Build a plant corner that thrives
A successful plant corner begins with the window, not the pots. Read the light first, then make the grouping feel like a tiny indoor landscape.
Watch the light for one day
Notice whether direct sun reaches the spot, and for how long. Bright indirect light sits near a window without receiving a hard beam for hours. Match plants to that reality rather than the mood you want.
Use three heights
Place one taller floor plant at the back, a medium plant on a stool or low table and a trailing or compact plant nearer the front. Different heights give depth while keeping every leaf visible.
- Group plants with similar watering needs.
- Put saucers under every pot before styling the corner.
- Keep leaves clear of heaters and cold draughts.
Styling shortcut: Use pots in one colour family but mix their shapes and textures.
Leave room to grow
A plant corner should not begin completely full. Give new leaves space and keep a clear route for watering. The arrangement will look better as it matures.
